What Every Player Needs—And Why You Shouldn’t Wait

Hockey season is around the corner, and whether your player is hitting the ice for the first time or gearing up for another season, now is the time to make sure they have everything they need—and that it fits.

Avoid the last-minute panic, sold-out gear, and rushed purchases by getting ahead of the game. Here's your go-to hockey gear checklist to help you start the season strong.

🏒 Hockey Gear Checklist

Use this list to check, size, and replace what your player needs:

  • Skates
    → Check for toe space, ankle support & blade condition

  • Helmet (with cage or visor)
    → Must fit snugly—no shifting or gaps

  • Stick
    → Correct length (from ice to chin) and flex for size/position

  • Gloves
    → Should cover the wrist, fingers snug but not tight

  • Shoulder Pads
    → Sit flat, no rising into the neck or gaps at the chest

  • Elbow Pads
    → Full coverage, stay in place during movement

  • Shin Pads
    → From kneecap to top of skate boot

  • Pants (hockey pants or girdle setup)
    → Cover hips to knees, with good mobility

  • Neck Guard
    → Required in many leagues—must be certified and comfortable

  • Jock or Jill
    → Proper protection for boys or girls—check fit and straps

  • Socks
    → Game socks that stretch over shin pads

  • Practice or Game Jersey
    → Get the right color and size before they're gone
